Marbella’s Celebrity Hairdresser Jonathan Yeadon confesses to being a BAM (Body Anxious Man)
Marbella’s Celebrity Hairdresser Jonathan Yeadon, whose clients include Victoria Beckham confesses to being a BAM (Body Anxious Man) and the lengths he has gone too, to achieve body confidence including Cosmetic Surgery.
Marbella, Spain (August 26, 2009) – During my teenage years I was classed as morbidly obese, I could blame my mother and grandmother for over feeding me but basically I ate because I wanted to. I decided though in my later teens, as I became more image aware that I wanted to do something about it. I dieted like a maniac for months to achieve a body that I was very happy with, apart from the area of fat around my middle my muffin top. It wouldn’t budge.
Over time, I tried bulking up to look like Arnie, slimming down to look like Brad, but looking back at photos the celebrity I’ve most resembled is probably Peter Kay.
I’m not alone in worrying about my body or the failure to transform myself into Hugh Jackman. There’s a reason why all men’s fitness mags fixate on getting a six pack but curiously lacking in advice on maintaining one, its that far more men think about getting the perfect body than actually achieve it, or better still even try. Not me.
Looking around my bedroom I have several pairs of running shoes for different surfaces, various weights, a rowing machine, two tubs of fat burning pills, a brochure on the power plate, toning belt and two heart monitors. My bathroom cupboard consists of beauty potions and creams, miracle cures to enhance masculinity; fat pills, a tub of testosterone cream (supposed to halt my receding hairline, don’t know if it works I haven’t opened it yet) and Muscle building products. (I struggle to open them too).
I watch what I eat, I permanently calorie count in fact I know so much about diets that my girlfriends come to me for advice. All very metro sexual you know.
I’m not one of those men either who after a few sweaty gym sessions think they will start to look like a Greek god; I have religiously hit the gym three days a week for the last 6 years in the hope that I would eventually have the body of an Adonis… Not to be… I admitted defeat and chose the only option left to me Cosmetic surgery, liposuction to be precise.
Thirty minutes on the theatre table and I’m now muffin top free. It was risk taking surgery but for me it wasn’t taking vanity too far.
At last I don’t have to hear the words “wear the black shirt it’s more slimming” or “you are so cuddly”. I feel great and I think I look great. Saying that I was looking in the mirror this morning and notice my eyes are getting a little droopy maybe I need to start on the Botox like all my friends are doing.
As we get older the pressure to stay looking younger gets more intense. How many sit ups will I have to do to make sure my belt stays near my hips and not my nipples. For decades woman have tried to avoid being viewed as sex objects but for us men that is sadly our dearest wish.
To Boob or not to Boob that is the Question more and more MEN are asking
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009Cosmetic Surgery for Women has long been accepted as means of looking good. For at least a decade Breast Reductions and Breast Augmentation surgeries have been top of the most wanted procedure list but now men are turning to Breast surgery to shape their chests and its brilliant news for the cosmetic surgery industry who are now targeting a whole new market.
Last year in the US over 20,000 men had breast reduction surgery and statistics show that in the UK there has been a 44% increase between 2007 and 2008 in men undergoing the same procedure.
Man boobs or “Moobs” as they are more commonly known have caused men constant embarrassment and distress for years and studies show that 47% of men in the UK hate the look of their chests and just as many are seeking help to remove these problem areas and are resorting to surgery to do just that..
David Mills Director of Mills & Mills cosmetic surgery clinic in Marbella says “there is definitely a growing trend towards men opting to have breast reduction surgery. Now that Cosmetic surgery in men is becoming more acceptable and carries less of a stigma we are receiving more and more enquiries from men of all ages wanting this type of surgery”.
“The procedure is fairly simple it mainly involves removing the fatty deposits around the breast area that causes the breasts to appear swollen and feminine. This is done with Liposuction and under general anaesthetic. The patient will have to wear a support strap for a couple of weeks till the swelling has subsided but the down time is minimal, with most men impressed with their fat to flat results.”
So what is the reason that these 47% of men have “Moobs” is it too many beers at lunchtime and little exercise?
Apparently not.. The reasons for moobs isn’t always down to unhealthy living or lack of exercise it can be a genetic thing or it can be something that occurs during puberty with hormone changes.
But whatever the reasons it seems that these areas of fat are sometimes impossible to shift with exercise alone and surgery is often the only option. In the US last year breast reduction surgery in men was the fourth most common surgical procedure performed and why not?
Woman have for too long dominated the cosmetic surgery market whilst men have covered up rather than confront their body issues. Even in these credit crunch times men are reluctant to forgo their new found metro sexuality and the incidents of male cosmetic surgery are still on the increase…great news all round for the Cosmetic surgery industry …but is it bad news for woman?
Natalie Rooney on male cosmetic surgery
Friday, July 24th, 2009Gorgeous glamour model Natalie Rooney who first shot to fame after flashing her boob at Colleens 18th birthday bash is not only renowned for her no holds barred honesty on most subjects especially footballers, her cousin Wayne Rooney being one of them, but for her two other large assets, here she talks exclusively to The Mens clinic about how she feels about men and cosmetic surgery.
So Natalie you are no stranger to cosmetic surgery, how many ops have you had?
NR. I have had two boob jobs the last one was only a month ago and my breasts measurements are now a double J.I love them and want to go even bigger next year, I want to be bigger than Jordan was at her biggest. They are my puppies.
Ok lets talk about MEN and cosmetic surgery, what reasons do you think men opt for Cosmetic surgery?
NR. I think guys that get non surgical treatments like Botox etc just get that done for pure vanity like all of us, but to have cosmetic surgery it must be because they are feeling insecure, whereas I think women get it to boost their confidence…..Or maybe they think like me? The Bigger the better…
Do you think women encourage men to have surgery?
NR. After my two trips to Mills & Mills in Marbella and experiencing it all myself, I would encourage anyone to get surgery done….Man or woman. They are an incredible company and I’ve told everyone about my experience with them. But I do think men want approval from woman to make them feel it’s not a stupid or vain.
Would you be turned off by a man if he said he had had surgery to look good?
NR. My god no, if a mans gorgeous because he has had surgery who cares as long as it makes him feel good, in the end it’s the woman who benefits haha.
Would you suggest surgery to your boyfriend or family ?
I definitely would suggest it to Wayne, he maybe an amazing footballer but he’s certainly not a pretty boy and he could do with a bit of nip & tuck here and there.haha. Seriously if I thought a male relative or friend of mine would look better with surgery I would encourage them to do it
Do you think there are just as many men as woman having Cosmetic surgery?
NR.Yeah of course! Years ago cosmetic surgery was such a big deal, today people are taking trips to the clinic as if its just a trip to the local salon haha! And why not?
What about Penis emlargements ? Are they an option?
NR. I know if I was a guy I’d definitely opt for one if I needed it of course, whoever said size doesn’t matter is talking c**p.. I’m dying to see a penis enlargement now; I’ve never seen one haha! At least I don’t think I have.
Lots of men have Cosmetic Dentistry do you think a Mans smile is important?
NR. A guy with a nice smile is a must have for me. If he’s got nice teeth then show me what’s underneath!!
Do you think men have surgery because their wives have it?
NR.Yeah most of the time I think that’s the reason guys decide to go ahead and have it, after seeing someone close to them have it done and realizing its not that bad at all. My mum has always said she would never have any cosmetic surgery done because she hates needles and stuff, but after seeing me get my lips done she decided to have hers done. I think she’s now considering a boob job too haha!!
If a man feels good about his body do you think it makes them better in bed?
NR. Of course it does, who would want a shy guy in their bedroom….I feel good about my body and i like my men to feel good about theirs too! And if cosmetic surgery does that then im all for it.
Thank you Natalie for the interview!
Now, just for the clients of The Mens clinic , here are some of your latest photos.
