Pectoral Implants
Its not just the ladies who want to improve the appearance of the chest area !. Pectoral implants are becoming more popular as more men seek to improve the look of the chest. What men really want is a muscular look to the chest area, akin to something achieved after lots of time in the Gym ( but without the time and sweat involved).
Sometimes, the reason to go for this operation is beyond merely a desire to have a pronounced chest. In some men, the muscles do not form properly and an underdeveloped pectoral muscle can look unattractive. This can be corrected with pectoral implants.
Before the procedure
It is vital that you have a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon for this procedure. At the consultation the Surgeon will examine your chest area and assess your suitability for the procedure. He will explain how the operation works and the pros and cons of having pectoral implants. After the consultation you should have all of the information required to come to a decision about this procedure and if its the right path for you to take.
The Procedure
Pectoral Implants are carried out under general Anesthetic. This means that during the procedure you will be asleep and feel nothing. The procedure takes between one and two hours to perform.
The Surgeon makes an incision in the armpit and creates a pocket for the implant to sit. The implants are specially shaped and in some cases, custom made for you. The implant is made from Silicone, the same as for female breast implants. The difference is the special shape of the pectoral implant. Once the pocket has been prepared the Surgeon places the implant into position. The wounds are then sutured and you are taken back to your private room to recuperate after initial recovery.
After the Procedure
You will notice some swelling to the chest area after the operation and you will feel sore at first. However, you will already be able to see the results of the procedure and the increased size of your chest. As the swelling subsides over the following weeks the final shape and size is revealed.
Arrange to take at least one week off work after the procedure. You should avoid any gym work for at least six weeks.
Expect to feel sore in the first few weeks after surgery. This is normal. the Surgeon will schedule a series of check ups to ensure that everything is settling down well. You will be given post operative medication to take and the Surgeon may request that you wear a compression garment on the chest for a while after the operation.
If you are embarrassed by the look of your chest , pectoral implants could be a solution.
