Adult Circumcision
Many men may have normal erections, but cannot enjoy normal sexual health due to an abnormally tight foreskin. Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin.
Some clients request circumcision so that they can enjoy greater sensation during sex. The procedure enables client to have comfortable erections and intercourse and is also thought to be more hygienic.
Before the procedure
You will have a private consultation with our Consultant Urological Surgeon to discuss your circumcision fully. You will also be able to get more information by having an informal chat with one of our Patient Care Coordinators. After an initial pre-surgical consultation, you will usually be admitted on the same day as your surgery. You will be asked not to eat or drink for 6 hours before surgery and immediately before the operation; you may be given a pre-medication by the anesthetist which will make you pleasantly sleepy.
The procedure
The operation is normally conducted under a full general anesthetic (where you will be asleep throughout the procedure), or local anesthetic can be used. You can usually choose the best form of sedation in consultation with the specialist. You will be explained of the pros and cons of each type of anesthetic. All methods minimise or post-operative pain. The entire foreskin will be removed using an incision just in front of the head of the penis. This leaves the head of the penis completely exposed with no redundant skin.
After the procedure
You may be asked to spend one night in one of our fully equipped luxury rooms in the hospital. In many cases however, the procedure can be done on an out Patient basis. You may experience discomfort for a few days after the procedure but painkillers will be given to you to take home. Absorbable stitches are normally used which do not require removal. Passing urine will be painless and will not be affected by the operation.
