Calf Implants and Calf Augmentation
If you have a problem with skinny legs, or skinny calf’s to be more precise, then calf implants could be an option for you. Calf implants are specially shaped silicone implants that are designed to add shape and definition to the calf, giving a more muscular look.
Before the Calf Implant Procedure
Firstly, you will need a consultation with one of our Plastic Surgeons. This takes typically half an hour to one hour. At the consultation the Surgeon will discuss calf implants with you, including the pros and the cons, and of course he will examine your legs to confirm that you are suitable. At the end of the consultation you should have all the information you need on which to base a decision.
The Calf Implant Procedure
Calf implants are performed under general anesthetic. This means that you will feel nothing during the procedure. calf implants are placed using an incision just behind the knee. When the Surgeon has pout the implants in the correct position, the area is sutured and you will be taken back to your private room after recovery.
After the Calf Implant procedure
You will probably have some bruising and swelling to the operated area afterwards. This is normal and will subside over the course of the following week or two. You will feel sore at first and you should plan to take two weeks off work. When the swelling has settled down you should be pleased with your new muscular look and your legs overall will be in proportion.
