Testicle Implants
This is fairly common procedure and usually performed following a trauma or where one has had to be removed , perhaps due to testicular cancer. Sometimes it is possible to have one testicle that is noticeably larger than the other. In this case a testicle implant can be used to create a more even look.
Before The Procedure
A consultation with a Plastic Surgeon, or Consultant Urologist is essential. At the consultation the Surgeon will explain how the procedure is performed and its risks and benefits. At the end of the consultation you should be fully informed and able to make a decision about testicle implants for you.
The Procedure
The operation is usually performed under general anesthetic and takes around one hour. Te implant itself can be one of silicone or saline filled. Your Surgeon will advise you of the most appropriate implant for you at consultation.
The Surgeon makes an incision under the underside of the scrotum in which to insert the testicle (s).
The wound is sutured when the testicle is placed in the correct position.
After the Procedure
Expect the testicles to be swollen and sore for around one week after surgery. Its a good idea to plan to take around seven to ten days off work afterwards.
The procedure can be performed on a day case basis which means you will have your operation in the morning and be allowed home later the same day, depending on your recovery.
You will normally wear a support garment for additional comfort in the first week after surgery. It is important to take things easy at first, making sure that you don’t put any undue strain on the operated area.
You will then begin a series of post operative check ups with your Surgeon to ensure that you are making good progress following your procedure. Previous page: Body Cosmetic Surgery
